Danny Martin is a Zen master in the essence of snowboarding. He rides with an effortless grace and
maximum control. I came to Danny with a severe case of arthritis in my right hip and a little
experience (mostly painful) snowboarding. In less than a week, I was confidently riding anywhere I
wanted to go on the mountain. Through Danny's instruction, I learned to use the natural physics of
my body, in relation to the mountain. His unique snowboarding technique allows me to expend minimal
effort and, instead, tap into the enormous energy of the mountain itself. What a gift!!!

Learning Technique Martin changed my life in so many ways. It gave me confidence and ability that
no one else was able to teach me. Once I learned to ride without the fear of falling, everything
seemed to come easily, especially the fun. Needless to say in this world, such pleasures don't just
happen everyday. Many thanks, you will always be my hero for this gift you passed on to me.

I'd tried snowboarding before and had resigned myself to being a life-long skier. Danny
promised he could teach me a technique that would give me total control of my board. Using the
very subtle movements of Technique Martin, I was able to control my speed and direction and still
remain very relaxed and comfortable. I'll never put skis on again!

I first decided to become a snowboarder when I saw Danny Martin and a friend of mine, who is one
of his snowboarding students, swooping effortlessly down a mountain in Courchevel, France.
They looked so graceful that I wanted to switch from skiing to Snowboarding immediately. Danny's
technique is the most beautiful downhill sport I have ever seen. By contrast, all other snowboard
teachers instruct their students to use an adaptation of skiing (what Danny calls "skiboarding")
which, I have realized, is tiring, unsafe and inelegant.
I was so keen to snowboard that, because Danny was not available at the time, I initially took some
lessons from another instructor, who used the traditional method of snowboarding. I fell a lot, and
found the experience completely exhausting. Some of the falls were painful, and the friend with whom I
shared the lessons managed to crack two ribs.
Since then I have been taking instruction from Danny, who specializes in teaching his students to
snowboard without falling. His technique is more relevant to the body's natural alignment and balance
and, above all, it is safe. With lots of concentration, Danny's technique is simple to learn - one has
to listen carefully to his instructions - he has endless patience, a sense of fun, and is passionate
about snowboarding. He notices everything, and constantly makes minute adjustments to one's stance and
equipment, all of which is miraculously helpful.
I just wish that there were lots of instructors using Technique Martin in every resort, so that all
my friends could learn to snowboard using Danny's method.

At age 44, I decided to take snowboarding lessons. after three or four private full day lessons I
was ready to give up. instructors from the ski/snowboard school did little other than lecture and
watch me fall repeatedly. at the end each day I felt as if I had been in a car accident. Certainly
not a pleasant experience nor one I wished to repeat. it seemed odd to spend $500 for a day of such
agony. then I heard about Danny Martin and his "different" technique of teaching snowboarding. the
first lesson was great! from the beginning Danny did not allow me to fall down, not even once. his
theory is "every snowboarding experience should be a pleasant memory." Danny’s technique makes
snowboarding seem as natural as walking. while remaining centered on the board I learned I only
needed to slightly shift my shoulders up or down and at the same time apply pressure on my toe or heel,
depending on which way I wanted to turn. I remained totally in control this way- I owned the board-the
board did not control me, I controlled it. after a while it felt as if the snowboard was simply an
extension of my body. I now enjoy snowboarding as frequently as possible. in closing I would say
Danny’s technique has made snowboarding a sport that has changed my life and will be a welcome part of
my life for many years to come.
yours very truly,
